Eden Hazard could have worn the Paris Saint-Germain shirt. Speaking on Zack en Roue Libre on Twitch, the former Belgian international confirmed that PSG tried to sign him in 2019, when he was leaving Chelsea.
“It could have happened before Covid,” Hazard admitted. “I’ve always had good relations with Nasser. I liked PSG, but I didn’t want to return to Ligue 1. Even for the Lille fans, I didn’t want to score against them,” said the former Lille star.
At the time, Bayern Munich also made an approach, though without direct talks. In the end, Hazard chose Real Madrid, who paid €115 million — still a club record — to secure his signature.
His spell in Spain was hampered by injuries, and after four mixed seasons he retired in October 2023, closing the book on a career highlighted by brilliant years at Lille and Chelsea.
