Manchester City will be without Rodri until at least mid-September. Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Spanish midfielder, injured against Al Hilal, will not return before the end of the first international break.
“He’s getting better, but he picked up a big injury in the last match against Al Hilal,” said Guardiola. “He’s been training better these past few days. I hope he’ll be ready after the September international break. He might get some minutes early on, but the most important thing is that he’s pain-free — we don’t want a Rodri who gets injured again.”
The 28-year-old will miss several key early-season fixtures. Known for his consistency, Rodri missed much of last season with an ACL injury and had a brief spell out in 2022-23 with a thigh problem, yet remains one of City’s most reliable performers.
