Tensions are rising around Fabián Ruiz at Paris Saint-Germain. Sidelined with a left knee injury after a collision against Sporting CP on January 20, the Spanish midfielder is still unavailable and no return date has been set.
According to Jérôme Rothen on RMC, Ruiz is taking his time to recover, much to the frustration of the PSG staff. The club’s medical and technical teams are reportedly “asking serious questions” about how the player is managing his injury.
Questions Inside PSG Over Ruiz’s Injury Management
The former Paris player even claims that Ruiz has privately expressed the following stance: “I’m preserving myself for the national team at the end of March because I’ve already given enough to PSG for now. I’m being careful when I resume. I’ll come back soon, but I don’t know when.”
According to Rothen, the 29-year-old midfielder is nevertheless certain to join the Spanish national team later this month to prepare for the World Cup. Such an attitude is reportedly going down very badly within the club. “I can tell you that it’s being taken very badly inside the club. His mindset after saying one thing and then the opposite about his injury,” he added.
The consultant also believes the situation could be linked to the Spaniard’s recent contract extension, which now places him in a more comfortable position within the Parisian club.
