Kylian Mbappé reacted to the 2025 AFCON final lost by Morocco against Senegal by focusing above all on the psychological impact on the players, especially Achraf Hakimi and Brahim Díaz.
Kylian Mbappé reassured his friends. He had two of them in the Morocco squad. The Real Madrid forward explained that he spoke at length with Hakimi. “I spent half the night on the phone with Achraf, so I know very well everything that happened and what followed after,” he first revealed to the press.

He also said he was worried about Díaz, the tournament’s top scorer, who missed the decisive penalty by attempting a Panenka. “I think he must be sad,” Mbappé said, adding that he had sent him a message but had not heard back yet.
He went on: “It’s difficult, I completely understand how he must feel right now, I’ve been through that. Of course, he will have disappointment and anger. The Moroccan people had been waiting for this for years and were so close to this title. That’s the life of a footballer.”
