It all started as a child’s joke. And a few years later, it has propelled a Peruvian club into the spotlight… PSG, yes, Perú San Germán. In Lima, Perú San Germán have just secured promotion to the first division of the San Martín de Porres district league, a level corresponding to the seventh tier of Peruvian football.

A sporting success that is already notable, but above all a singular story, closely linked to Paris Saint-Germain. The reference soon turned into a guiding theme: Parisian colors, a crest inspired by the French club, and the “PSG” initials proudly displayed. A choice that paid off. “We gained visibility thanks to PSG. When Neymar arrived in Paris, some people even thought we were affiliated with the club,” president Luis Montero told El Comercio.

This unexpected notoriety now fuels clear ambitions: to grow the club and perhaps one day catch the attention of Paris itself. For now, the dreams of greatness remain rooted in South America, with hopes of a future clash against Barcelona of Guayaquil — a local PSG vs. Barça showdown, Peruvian rather than European.
