Paris Saint-Germain has its first major news of the transfer window: Willian Pacho has extended his contract until 2030, according to RMC Sport. This strong strategic choice allows the club to secure one of the most promising elements of its defense.

As often, PSG is taking its time before making an official announcement, wishing to reveal several contract extensions at the same time. Dembélé, Barcola, Ruiz, Mayulu, and Mbaye could be included in this same communication package.

After this important signing, PSG is immediately turning its attention to its major winter issue. The serious injury to Achraf Hakimi against Bayern — ankle injury, expected absence until the end of January — leaves a huge gap on the right. There is no natural replacement, no experienced player: Paris needs to recruit, and quickly.

The most serious lead points to Daniel Muñoz, a 29-year-old Colombian defender from Crystal Palace, known for being reliable and strong. Under contract until 2028, he has already been the subject of initial informal contacts between Paris and his entourage, according to ESPN and journalist Julian Capera.

PSG is not alone. Chelsea has already contacted the player’s agents and emphasized a key argument: guaranteed playing time, much higher than what Paris could offer with Hakimi’s return. FC Barcelona is also monitoring the situation. With just a few months until the World Cup, every minute of play counts for Muñoz. Paris will therefore need to be convincing.

Valued at 30 million euros, Muñoz represents the ideal solution to get through the winter without Hakimi. PSG is engaged in a real race against time. To avoid losing ground, they will need to act quickly, decisively, and accurately.
