The Paris Saint-Germain is moving closer to a major decision regarding its future stadium. After the Paris City Hall rejected the sale of Parc des Princes, the club has turned its attention to alternative locations, with Poissy emerging as the leading option.
According to Le Parisien, talks with Stellantis, the owner of the large industrial site in the area, have progressed significantly, with an official confirmation from the automotive group.
Poissy’s Role in PSG’s Ambitious Stadium Project
Poissy could be home to the PSG’s new stadium, a project that includes a venue with over 60,000 seats, alongside a large commercial and event complex called “PSG Land.” This would represent a significant step forward for the club’s long-term vision.
Challenges Surrounding the Project
While the city of Poissy and Stellantis are moving forward with the feasibility study, challenges remain. The industrial site, covering 170 hectares, may provide enough space for the project, but unions and some local politicians are cautious. Concerns focus on the potential disruption to the site’s industrial activity and long-term job security.
Stellantis has assured that production will not be affected, with possibilities to reconfigure industrial activities. However, written guarantees for job preservation will be required.
Despite these challenges, Poissy remains a strong candidate for PSG’s new stadium, bolstered by its proximity to key transport links and available land.
