Manchester United is pushing hard to secure Viktor Gyökeres, the Sporting Lisbon striker. After completing the transfer of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton, the Red Devils are now focusing on the 26-year-old Swedish forward.
In recent days, United’s management has ramped up their efforts to sign Gyökeres, who is under contract with Sporting until 2028.
The deal could be finalized quickly after the Europa League final, where Manchester United will face Tottenham in a crucial match for their season.
PSG Out of the Race
Gyökeres’ price has been negotiated down with Sporting, attracting interest from several clubs, including Arsenal. However, PSG, who had shown interest earlier this year, now seems to be out of the running.
According to L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting director, Luis Campos, has decided against strengthening the attack this summer, particularly with a player of Gyökeres’ cost.
Meanwhile, the striker, who has scored 53 goals this season, is eager to find a new club, and Manchester United appears to be in the best position to close the deal.
