Roberto De Zerbi did not hide his irritation over the venue chosen for the Champions Trophy final, scheduled to take place in Kuwait. Speaking at a press conference, the Italian coach delivered a clear and straightforward message, believing that this fixture should be played on French soil.
“The venue bothers me; I think it should be played in its own country,” he said, while adding that he would still travel to Kuwait out of professional duty: “I will go to Kuwait because it’s my job.”
A Decision Driven by Financial Considerations
For De Zerbi, the issue is neither sporting nor cultural. “It’s not a problem with Kuwait, it’s not a sporting or social issue, it’s an economic one, and that doesn’t sit well with me,” he insisted, regretting a decision guided above all by financial considerations.
