Paris Saint-Germain continues to reshape its attacking plans ahead of the new season. After definitively dropping its interest in Aleksey Batrakov, the French champions have also decided to move on from Eli Junior Kroupi.
Long admired by PSG’s recruitment department, the 19-year-old French forward will not be heading to the French capital. Despite an impressive campaign with Bournemouth, where he scored 13 Premier League goals, Kroupi remains one of the most sought-after young talents in European football.
Barcelona Monitoring Kroupi’s Situation
The main obstacle is his price tag. Bournemouth are reportedly demanding close to €100 million to begin negotiations, a figure PSG considers excessive. As a result, the club has withdrawn from the race despite the obvious potential of the France Under-21 international. Luis Campos is now focusing on other targets, including Maghnes Akliouche and Yan Diomandé.
While PSG has closed the door, Barcelona could be preparing an approach. According to several Spanish media outlets, the Catalan club is closely following Kroupi’s development as it plans for life after Robert Lewandowski.
Although Julián Álvarez remains Barcelona’s priority target, the complexity of that deal has encouraged sporting director Deco to explore alternative options. Kroupi is reportedly among the names being seriously considered. The key question is whether the Blaugrana will be willing to meet Bournemouth’s financial demands. The €100 million valuation has already discouraged PSG and could also make Barcelona think twice.
