Big blow for FC Barcelona. La Liga has officially cancelled the plan to stage the Villarreal–Barça match in Miami this December, following pressure from players and fans fiercely opposed to the idea. The result? A golden payday just went up in smoke.
According to AS, the Catalan club will lose between €5 and €6 million from the decision — a bitter setback for an institution already drowning in financial trouble.
Barça didn’t hide its anger. In a frosty statement, the club slammed what it called an “incomprehensible” and “damaging” decision for the international growth of Spanish football.
Between record debt and missed income, Barça’s finances are hanging by a thread. Miami was supposed to bring some fresh air — instead, it’s a cold wind blowing through the club’s accounts.
