Concern is already surrounding Paul Pogba. Named on the teamsheet against Galatasaray on Tuesday in the Champions League, the Monaco midfielder ultimately did not come on during ASM’s 1–0 victory. The reason was a last-minute physical scare.
During the warm-up, Pogba felt pain in his knee. The discomfort was linked to a slight tendon strain, as confirmed by Sébastien Pocognoli at the post-match press conference. Nothing serious according to the staff, but enough to warrant caution. The player only returned to training on Friday, his first session since the European match.
Pogba doubtful for the clash with Marseille
As a result, his presence against Olympique de Marseille is far from guaranteed. The Monaco coach is taking his time and prefers to wait for Saturday’s session before making a decision. With the showdown at the Vélodrome just two days away, Pogba remains highly doubtful.
This could be bad news for Monaco, even if Pocognoli also delivered some positive updates. Christian Mawissa and Eric Dier are both back and fully available. Two valuable defensive reinforcements, while the Pogba situation is already causing concern on the Rock.
