More than fifteen years later, Walter Pandiani still hasn’t forgotten. The former Osasuna striker revisited his infamous clash with Cristiano Ronaldo during the Portuguese star’s early Real Madrid days in an interview with AS.
The heated moment took place at El Sadar, where Ronaldo was booed and insulted from the warm-up. According to Pandiani, CR7 lost his cool: “During his free kicks, he would fire the ball into the stands at people.” The tension escalated after a foul when Ronaldo shoved Javier Camuñas. Pandiani stepped in: “I pushed him, and he asked me who I was… and how much I earned.”
“Cristiano was an incredible goalscorer, but…”
The bizarre exchange continued down the tunnel, with Sergio Ramos backing his teammate. Pandiani recalls: “I was furious, they were too.”
His verdict, years later, remains sharp: “Cristiano was an incredible goalscorer, but his attitude… arrogant, unbearable. Mourinho said I was looking for attention, but I already had eleven years in La Liga under my belt!”
