The spending spree continues in Catalonia. In order to land superstar Julian Alvarez, FC Barcelona appears willing to make major sacrifices, including parting ways with some of its key players. Jules Koundé could be shown the exit door, while the club has already identified a low-cost replacement in Italy. A clever €25 million move may be taking shape.
After spending heavily on Anthony Gordon, Barcelona reportedly needs to raise significant funds if it hopes to pursue a striker valued at around €150 million. According to reports, Jules Koundé could become one of the main assets sacrificed to balance the books. Despite a solid campaign at right-back, the French international remains highly sought after by several Premier League clubs, making him a potentially lucrative sale.
Barcelona Eye Dumfries as Koundé Successor
Barcelona, however, has no intention of leaving the right flank uncovered. According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Catalan giants have already activated a major alternative, with Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries emerging as the preferred target.
The Dutch international, known for his powerful runs and attacking qualities, has long been admired by Barcelona. The report claims that Dumfries will be available through a release clause worth just €25 million starting in July, making him one of the most attractive opportunities on the market.
Such a deal would allow Barcelona to generate a substantial profit by selling Koundé for a premium fee while securing a replacement at a relatively low cost. Dumfries’ physical and offensive profile is also considered an excellent fit for Hansi Flick’s direct style of play, potentially paving the way for further investment in a marquee signing such as Julian Alvarez.
