Lamine Yamal isn’t backing down. Following the controversy surrounding his 18th birthday party — which featured the presence of little people — the Barcelona starlet has responded head-on, making it clear he has no intention of apologizing.
The winger officially extended his contract with Barça until 2031 on his birthday. Already considered one of football’s brightest prospects, Yamal took the opportunity to directly address the criticism about his personal life.
“I just enjoy life, that’s all”
Targeted by media and public backlash, Yamal made his stance clear: “At the end of the day, I work for Barça, I play for Barça. And when I’m away from the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, I just enjoy life, that’s all.”
He delivered the message in Spanish, even though the question was asked in Catalan — a choice interpreted as a signal to a wider audience.
Now wearing the number 10 shirt, Yamal is focused on his future: “I want to win. I want to keep winning and growing because I’m still very young.”
After a season with 18 goals, 25 assists, and a Euro 2024 title with Spain, Yamal now has his eyes on the Champions League — and the 2026 World Cup.
