Joan Laporta remains at the helm of FC Barcelona. The Catalan executive has comfortably won the club’s presidential election against Victor Font and begins a new term that will run until 2031.

A clear victory for Laporta. The suspense did not last long. Joan Laporta was re-elected president of FC Barcelona with a large majority of the votes. According to Catalan media, he secured 69.19% of the ballots, or 17,038 votes, compared to 7,082 for his main rival Victor Font.

Laporta Begins New Term Leading Barcelona

At 63 years old, Laporta will therefore continue his work at the head of the Catalan club for a new mandate that will end in 2031. The decisive victory confirms the confidence of the socios in the man who has already been leading Barça for several years.

Despite the defeat, Victor Font, notably supported by Xavi, acknowledged the legitimacy of the result. “He is the elected president and his victory at the ballot box is unquestionable,” he told journalists, while affirming that he intends to keep defending his vision of a different Barça.
