After several days of tension with the club, German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has signed the authorization allowing Barcelona’s medical staff to send his medical report to LaLiga.
The club announced that the disciplinary case is now closed and that the goalkeeper “regains the first-team captaincy with immediate effect.”
Previously stripped of the armband and sanctioned by the club, Ter Stegen spoke out on X to give his side of the story: “These last few months have been particularly difficult for me, both physically and personally… Some things said about me are totally unfounded.” He stressed that his back surgery was approved by the club and aimed solely at protecting his health.
Accused of hindering the registration of his replacement, Joan Garcia, he firmly denied it: “I would never consider my situation as necessary for registering other teammates whom I deeply respect. Any other interpretation is unfair and inaccurate.” The German reiterated his commitment to Barça and his willingness to “work with the management” to move forward.
