Even while wearing the colors of Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé continues to keep a close eye on Paris Saint-Germain. The French forward did not hide his satisfaction after PSG’s Champions League final victory over Arsenal.
Currently with the French national team for the 2026 World Cup, Les Bleus’ captain explained on M6 that PSG’s success was also excellent news for the atmosphere within the France squad ahead of the global tournament.
Mbappé Jokes About PSG’s Champions League Triumph
“PSG had to win,” he joked while referring to the many Paris players in the France squad, including Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Désiré Doué, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembélé.
With his usual frankness, Mbappé admitted that he preferred welcoming happy players rather than disappointed runners-up. “It was important. Sorry for William (Saliba) because he was alone, while they were five. It’s easier to comfort one player than five. For the World Cup, it’s better to get one player back on track than five. PSG had to win so we wouldn’t have to play psychologists with too many players. It’s great,” the French striker said on M6.
The all-time leading scorer in PSG history believes that this positive momentum can directly benefit the French national team. “They’re on a fantastic run, and it’s easier to integrate when people are happy,” he added.
It was another sign that, despite his move to Madrid, Mbappé still maintains a special connection with the Parisian club—even if his compliment seemed to carry a slight hint of jealousy.
