Brazil made a disappointing start to the 2026 World Cup. Held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco on Sunday, the Seleção failed to produce the performance many expected in their opening match of the tournament, raising early concerns about the team’s form.
Carlo Ancelotti is already facing pressure after the draw. Following the match, the Brazilian coach did not attempt to downplay his team’s struggles. He acknowledged a difficult performance while refusing to focus too heavily on the weaknesses exposed during the game.
Ancelotti Demands Improvement After Slow Start
“It was a difficult match. Morocco played well and we were better in the second half. For the next matches, we need to improve, that’s all,” the former Real Madrid manager told beIN Sports.
Despite the disappointment, Bruno Guimarães chose to look at the positives. The Newcastle United midfielder felt that sharing the points was a fair outcome given the way the match unfolded. “The draw is a good result. We were too nervous at the start and missed passes that we normally complete. We suffered, but the draw was fair,” explained the Brazilian international.
Brazil can indeed consider themselves fortunate not to have left empty-handed after a particularly difficult first half. The Seleção will need to show a completely different side when they face Haiti on Friday night, or the pressure surrounding Ancelotti and his players could increase rapidly.
