José Mourinho, never shy with his words, delivered a stinging verdict on the new Club World Cup. For the Special One, the revamped competition is little more than a pre-season sideshow.
“This Club World Cup reminds me of the summer tours I used to do in the U.S. with Real Madrid and Inter Milan,” he told Canal 11. According to him, the title only really matters to Chelsea: “They’ll sell a lot of shirts with the new badge, that’s it.”
His team of the season: “It’s Paris Saint-Germain!”
The Portuguese coach didn’t stop there. Asked about the Ballon d’Or, he hinted with irony: “It should go to someone who’s won titles. So… Ousmane Dembélé?” A cheeky swipe with no follow-up.
But Mourinho did name his team of the season: “It’s Paris Saint-Germain!” A bold statement, and one that will certainly go down well in the French capital.
