Cole Palmer wants to turn his viral celebration nickname into a trademark. The Chelsea forward, who made waves with his “icy” goal celebration, has officially filed to register “Cold Palmer” as a brand for merchandising.

But in Bordeaux, there’s resistance. The prestigious Château Palmer, a Grand Cru wine producer since 1814, is firmly opposing the move. The French estate fears confusion in the alcohol market, especially since Palmer’s application includes the possibility of launching… a line of wines.

The case is now in the hands of the UK Intellectual Property Office. On one side, a rising Premier League star. On the other, a centuries-old Bordeaux label. The legal battle promises to be intense.
