Cristiano Ronaldo Takes the World Cup Away from Lionel Messi!

Cristiano Ronaldo surprised everyone. In the second part of his interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, the Portuguese star dropped a completely unexpected statement: “Winning the next World Cup will not change my name in football.”

As the 2026 World Cup approaches, Ronaldo is… surprisingly modest. No crazy promises, no XXL challenges: “It’s not a dream to win the World Cup, I just want to enjoy the moment.” This statement contrasts with a player who has always claimed to want to win everything, everywhere, all the time. He insists: he will play in the World Cup for his country, not for his personal legend.

And of course, it is impossible to escape the eternal debate… Ronaldo vs Messi. Sparked by a statement from Wayne Rooney — “Messi is better” — CR7 calmly responded: “People think what they want. No problem.”

But he couldn’t resist slipping in a little statistic and especially a huge jab at Lionel Messi: “Argentina has won two World Cups without Messi. Without me, Portugal has never won anything.”

At 40 years old, Ronaldo seems more at peace… but still ready to defend his legend. And by the way, when he can throw a little banter at the Flea, he goes for it; it doesn’t hurt.
