Jürgen Klopp could soon make his big return to the dugout. The former Liverpool manager has confirmed that he is in talks with the German Football Association to take charge of the Mannschaft following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure.
The situation has clearly moved very quickly. With Nagelsmann leaving his role, the DFB is now looking for a new head coach capable of relaunching Germany. And Jürgen Klopp’s name naturally appears as a major option.
Klopp ready for the Germany job
Asked by MagentaTV, Klopp did not try to dodge the question. He confirmed that talks with the German Football Association were taking place, while stressing that several aspects of the deal still need to be resolved.
“Yes, I can confirm the discussions. Things moved quite quickly. Julian resigned, the DFB is looking for a successor, and we are talking,” Jürgen Klopp explained. The former Reds coach also recalled that he is currently under contract with Red Bull and will therefore need to speak with his current employer before going any further.
“I am under contract with Red Bull. I said I was interested, the talks will be intense. I also have to speak with my employer. We have already discussed certain points, and I assume they will not oppose it. I am ready,” Klopp added. If the deal goes through, Germany would pull off a huge move by appointing a strong, popular figure capable of giving the Mannschaft fresh momentum.
