Dramatic twist in Bordeaux: Oliver Kahn will not be taking over the club after all. The former Bayern Munich goalkeeper, who had submitted an ambitious bid to buy the Girondins, has officially withdrawn from the project after a deep dive into the club’s financial, legal, and operational situation.

According to Sud Ouest, Kahn’s plan included an immediate repayment of €15 million in debts — more upfront than Gérard Lopez’s rival offer, which proposes €24 million spread over 10 years. While Kahn’s approach seemed more robust in the short term, it will now not move forward.

That leaves… Gérard Lopez

With Kahn out, the commercial court is left with only one option on the table: Lopez. The club’s professional future now hinges on the court’s decision, expected this Tuesday. All this as Bordeaux has already been relegated to France’s fourth tier, National 2.
