Michael Olise is increasingly emerging as a credible contender for the Ballon d’Or. The French international is impressing at the highest level, to the point of winning over major figures in European football.
Michael Olise is making a strong impact in Germany. Everyone agrees that the French national team player has become indispensable. During a recent appearance on the show “Triple Der Hagedorn Fußballtalk” on Sky Sports, Oliver Kahn, alongside Roman Weidenfeller, did not hide his admiration for the 24-year-old star.
Rising Performances Fuel Ballon d’Or Hopes
According to Kahn, Olise’s recent performances already place him among the favorites for football’s highest individual honor. “When you see what he’s been doing in recent weeks, he’s clearly on track for the Ballon d’Or,” he stated, highlighting his impact in the Champions League.
The former German goalkeeper also shared a humorous personal anecdote. He recalled the 2002 Ballon d’Or ceremony, where he attended believing he would win, only for the trophy to be awarded to Ronaldo. “I thought I had won (laughs)! I was invited, I said to myself, ‘That’s it, it’s mine,’ then I discovered the result… I was a bit frustrated,” he admitted.
So, could Michael Olise win the Ballon d’Or? As is often the case in a World Cup year, his journey and performances during the tournament will be decisive, as well as the upcoming clash against PSG in the Champions League.
