It’s official: Olympique Lyonnais will stay in Ligue 1 next season. After 18 days of uncertainty following a provisional relegation, the DNCG’s appeal commission has approved the club’s financial plan, including an €83 million cash injection and multiple player sales (Lopes, Cherki, Lacazette…).
Salary Cap and Transfer Limits
While the drop is avoided, Lyon won’t have free rein. The DNCG has imposed strict controls on both the wage bill and transfer budget. The club will still compete in the Europa League, but on a tight leash.
New club president Michele Kang called it “a fresh start,” while Jean-Michel Aulas emphasized the need for ambitious yet disciplined rebuilding. On the pitch, Lyon will need to do more with less.
