Kylian Mbappé is Real Madrid’s new No.10. The French superstar leaves behind the No.9 shirt to inherit Luka Modric’s iconic number — a symbol of prestige and history at the Bernabéu.
Pressure? Not for Mbappé. True to his style, he laughed it off: “I just hope I don’t have to change numbers every season (laughs),” he quipped with a grin, refusing to let the weight of the shirt burden him.
For Real, it’s also a marketing jackpot: a tidal wave of “Mbappé 10” shirts is already on the way. But for the Bondy-born forward, the football on the pitch matters more than the digits on his back.
Modric gives his blessing
Luka Modric, who carried the No.10 for over a decade, endorsed the switch: “It’s a very special number for me. Real Madrid decided to give it to Kylian and I think they made the right choice. Kylian is one of the best players in the world, he’s a friend, and I’m delighted to see him wear it,” he told DAZN.
A passing of the torch — with Mbappé ready to write his own chapter in Madrid’s history.
