Kylian Mbappé paused his vacation to attend Lucas Vazquez’s farewell ceremony at Valdebebas on Thursday — a powerful gesture from one of the newest members of the squad. Other than goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, no other first-team player showed up to honour one of the club’s most loyal servants.
The event marked the end of an era for Lucas Vazquez, who leaves the club after 402 appearances and 23 trophies, including 5 Champions League titles. The Spanish winger received a warm tribute from president Florentino Pérez, while former teammate Marcelo was also in attendance.
Mbappé’s classy message
Mbappé, who joined Real Madrid just a year ago, made sure to be there in person. In a heartfelt message, he said: “My friend, it was a pleasure to share the locker room with you this season. You were amazing with me from day one to the last. A legend on and off the pitch at the greatest club in the world. I wish you the very best for the future. Thank you for everything.”
Kylian was supposed to be on holidays but he cuts it short to attend Vasquez's farewell.

Vazquez, moved to tears, thanked the club, his family, and fans: “I may be leaving today, but I’ll never say goodbye to Real Madrid. It will always be a part of me.”
A future outside Europe?
At 33, Vazquez isn’t retiring yet. According to AS, offers from Saudi Arabia and Qatar are already on the table. While his next step remains unknown, his legacy in Madrid is cemented.
