In an interview with Onze Mondial, Odsonne Edouard (28 years old, 25 matches, 12 goals in Ligue 1) set the record straight. The RC Lens striker, who arrived last summer for around €4 million, has clearly not forgotten the doubts surrounding his signing.
Odsonne Edouard is still frustrated. Before joining Lens from Crystal Palace, the center-forward had not played competitively since November 2024. Since then, however, he has been scoring consistently in Ligue 1 and has taken the opportunity to respond to criticism.
A proven striker responding to doubts
“The ‘Odsonne Edouard gamble’? Seriously? A player who has played in the Champions League, the Europa League, who has scored in the Premier League and everywhere he’s been… if that’s a gamble, I’ll sign right away,” said the former Paris Saint-Germain forward.
“Betting on a 27-year-old player with more than 100 career goals (121 as a professional) seems obvious to me. What annoyed me was being undervalued, or even completely underestimated.”
