OM can finally breathe again. After two worrying defeats, the Marseille side bounced back this Friday night with a 3-1 victory over Metz. A valuable win that gets things moving again… but above all temporarily puts the club back on the podium.
Against the bottom-placed team, nothing was simple for Olympique de Marseille. At times under pressure, the Phocéens had to work hard to overcome FC Metz. But the essential is there: three points and a return to third place, synonymous with direct qualification for the Champions League.
Beye Focused on Objectives Rather Than His Future
Behind the scenes, the pressure remains intense. And Habib Beye has only one thing in mind: finishing the job. Asked about his future, the Marseille coach played it down and shifted the focus back to matters on the pitch.
“I’m not going to talk about certainties. I’ll talk about ambition and objectives. My ambition when I arrived was to bring OM, for the second time in a row, into the Champions League. I’m focused on that goal, not on my contract.”
A clear message, reinforced by the support of owner Frank McCourt. “We are working perfectly at the club. What the owner McCourt announced—he was present and delivered a fantastic message of encouragement before the match.” Not looking too far ahead, Beye added: “It’s up to me, with my squad, to take my club to the Champions League. We’ll see after that. I’m focused on the next five matches to bring OM back into the Champions League.” The final sprint is on, and in Marseille, only one obsession remains: securing that ticket to Europe’s top competition.
