Olympique de Marseille could be heading for a dramatic setback. Despite qualifying for the Europa League on the pitch, the French club now faces potential UEFA sanctions due to its worrying financial situation.

Disaster could be looming for OM, with European football potentially taken away from them. According to reports from L’Équipe, Marseille is set to appear before UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body on Tuesday. The club has come under scrutiny after reportedly exceeding the limits established in the settlement agreement signed with UEFA in 2022.

Several possible sanctions are being considered, ranging from a financial fine to restrictions on the club’s European squad. However, the most severe scenario remains on the table: outright exclusion from the next European competition for which Marseille has qualified.

While such an outcome would be extreme, it is reportedly being taken very seriously within the club. UEFA’s decision is expected within the coming hours and could dramatically reshape Marseille’s summer plans.
