Speaking to the press this Thursday, Habib Beye was asked about rumors suggesting tensions within the OM dressing room. The Marseille coach firmly denounced some of the information being circulated.
Habib Beye has hit back. Under pressure and nearly on the brink of dismissal, the OM manager believes the rumors surrounding his squad are simply false. In his sights: journalists. “I hear a lot of things, and I would really like people to speak with the dressing room, because what I sometimes hear… I still feel that some, and I say some, a minority, really lack journalistic ethics.”
Beye Pushes Back Against Media Claims
“Because when I see the lies being put forward about so many things… I’ve never been one to deny what’s been written. But honestly, it comes back to me, and when I see certain things, it’s disheartening,” he admitted.
The Marseille coach also wanted to remind everyone of the normal dynamics within a professional squad: “Tension and pressure in a dressing room always exist. They are there from the first matchday to the last, from the first day of preparation until the end. You know today there are 24 or 25 players with different egos and personalities. A dressing room has depth.”
“But that doesn’t mean a dressing room is exploding. What bothers me is that it’s always the same narrative coming back, trying to build the same stories. I feel it’s closely linked to my presence. What disturbs me are the lies,” he added.
