Despite a context marked by his replacement in favor of Medhi Benatia, Longoria leaves Marseille with dignity. “I close this chapter with respect, perspective, and gratitude,” he concluded, bringing an important part of his career to an end. Longoria had refused to remain at OM after Franck McCourt decided to remove him from the presidency and offer him a more withdrawn role, while sporting director Medhi Benatia will stay at least until the end of the season and becomes the club’s new leading figure.
