Paris Saint-Germain will now return to training on August 6 — two days later than planned — due to travel issues following the Club World Cup.
The final in the United States ended on a sour note for PSG: a heavy defeat against Chelsea and a series of flight delays. Initially set to resume training on August 4, the squad will now report back on August 6, L’Équipe reports.
The reason? Bad weather. Several players were unable to leave the U.S. on schedule and had to postpone the start of their holidays by 48 hours.
Tight schedule, big goals ahead
Luis Enrique’s squad will therefore have less time to prepare. They return to the PSG Campus just one week before the UEFA Super Cup clash against Tottenham on August 13 in Udine.
And the pressure won’t ease up. Ligue 1 kicks off just four days later, with a trip to Nantes on August 17.
