The Real Madrid megastore is booming thanks to Kylian Mbappé, but there’s one iconic jersey fans won’t find on the shelves.
While the French star’s new No.10 kit is flying off the racks after he officially took over Luka Modric’s number, many supporters have been disappointed to learn that they cannot buy Cristiano Ronaldo’s legendary No.7 shirt — not even retro versions.
According to Defensa Central, image rights and licensing issues are behind the ban. Since CR7’s departure to Juventus in 2018, Real Madrid has faced restrictions on merchandising related to his name and number. Despite being the club’s all-time top scorer with 451 goals in 438 appearances, Ronaldo’s legacy is, for now, absent from official merchandise.
The Mbappé effect
Meanwhile, the Mbappé effect is in full swing. His new No.10 jersey, unveiled during the Club World Cup but only recently confirmed for the 2025/26 season, has triggered a frenzy in Real Madrid stores. Kids and adults alike are scrambling to get their hands on what is already being called a historic shirt.
Mbappé may be the new face of the Bernabéu, but the absence of Ronaldo gear leaves a noticeable gap in the club’s retail lineup — proof that legends might be untouchable, even in the shops.
