Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé is still recovering. Hit hard by a severe bout of gastroenteritis, the French superstar will miss Real Madrid’s final Club World Cup group game against RB Salzburg — despite returning to training on Wednesday.

Weight loss a concern

Spanish media report that Mbappé has lost nearly 5 kilograms, a serious concern given his optimal playing weight of around 75 kg. Combined with the demanding weather conditions, Real’s medical staff chose to play it safe.

Coach Xabi Alonso addressed the situation:
“It was great to see him back on the pitch, but he’s still not fully fit. I spoke with him — he knows his body. We hope to have him back for the next round.”
