Lille is dreaming big — and Olivier Giroud is on board. After the departures of Jonathan David and Chuba Akpom, LOSC is eyeing the 2018 World Cup winner as its new marquee striker. And according to L’Équipe and Foot Mercato, Giroud has already said yes in principle.
Currently under contract with LAFC until December 2025, Giroud is intrigued by the Lille project and has given his green light. LOSC president Olivier Létang confirmed the club’s ambition: “I’d love to see him join us.”
Giroud open to a return to Ligue 1
Negotiations are ongoing around a one-year deal with an option, but there’s still work to do. The main hurdle? His €3 million annual salary. LOSC remains cautious but determined.
It’s far from done — but Lille is pushing to make the dream a reality.
