Huge surprise in the Principality! AS Monaco has decided to move on from Sébastien Pocognoli after a season internally considered very disappointing. Monaco’s management wants to launch a new cycle this summer, with several major changes already being prepared.
AS Monaco has found its new head coach. For several days, Bruno Genesio’s name had been heavily linked with the job as the successor to the Belgian manager. Discussions had even reportedly taken place with the former Lille coach, who is also being targeted by Marseille.
Filipe Luis Chosen to Lead Monaco’s New Era
But in the end, Monaco chose a completely unexpected option. According to information from Fabrizio Romano, the club from the Principality is set to place its trust in Filipe Luis to revive the sporting project.
Available since leaving Flamengo last March, the former Brazilian international had been strongly linked with Bayer Leverkusen. However, Monaco general manager Thiago Scuro reportedly accelerated negotiations to beat the competition and convince Filipe Luis to sign a contract until June 2028.
It is a bold gamble for Monaco, which now hopes to quickly return to the top of Ligue 1 with a modern and attack-minded coach leading the team.
