The president of Barça seized the opportunity to make headlines… by proposing a statue for Messi, which would be installed in front of the stadium, similar to Thierry Henry’s statue in front of the Emirates in London.
During a promotional event, Laporta dropped a symbolic bombshell: “He deserves a statue in our new stadium. We are preparing a model, and if the family agrees, we will do it.”
