Zinedine Zidane gave a light-hearted lesson in identity to a young fan in Miami, and the clip has gone viral.
As the fan—clearly overwhelmed—asked the legendary Frenchman for an autograph with a shy “Can you sign my ball?”, Zidane paused, grinned, and quipped:
“Mais t’es français non ? Pourquoi tu me parles en anglais ?”
(“You’re French, right? Why are you speaking to me in English?”)
A brief moment of awkwardness followed, before the fan explained he had been living in the USA for six months and speaking English had become a habit… maybe mixed with a bit of nervousness.
