Marcus Rashford is indeed on his way to Barcelona. A loan deal with Manchester United has been agreed, including a €30–35M / £25.5–29.75M buy option. The English forward has also accepted a 25% pay cut to help the move go through.
But once again, Barça’s finances are holding things up. Rashford can’t yet be registered in La Liga due to Financial Fair Play limits. The club is still awaiting approval for a VIP box financing deal linked to the new Camp Nou.
A squad role, not a starting one
In parallel, Hansi Flick has already made his intentions clear: Rashford won’t be a regular starter. The German coach plans to use him as an impact sub on the left wing, not as a backup to Lewandowski. If the Polish striker is unavailable, Ferran Torres or Dani Olmo will play up front instead.
For Rashford to officially join team activities, Barça must free up salary space—Andreas Christensen is the most likely candidate to be sold. Until then, Rashford can’t train or play with the first team.
