After a brief stall, Viktor Gyökeres is now edging closer than ever to joining Arsenal.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners and Sporting CP have resumed talks and are nearing a full agreement for a transfer worth €63.5 million + €10 million in bonuses (£54M + £8.5M).
Negotiations had hit a snag over the structure and feasibility of the bonuses, but recent discussions have smoothed things out. Only minor details remain before the Swedish striker’s move is officially sealed.
It’s a huge boost for Arsenal, who have long sought a clinical No. 9 — and for Gyökeres, who had made a switch to North London his top priority. In a sign of commitment, his agent even waived his commission to help push the transfer through.
Barring any late surprises, the 27-year-old goal machine (54 goals in 52 games last season) will soon be wearing red and white.
