Chelsea’s summer spending spree rolls on. The London club has officially signed Dutch centre-back Jorrel Hato from Ajax Amsterdam for a reported €40 million (approx. £34 million) fee.
The 19-year-old defender, already capped six times for the Netherlands, has committed to a seven-year deal running until June 2032. Hato, who captained Ajax despite his young age, has already made 111 appearances and scored 4 goals for the Dutch giants.
Known for his versatility, Hato can play both centrally and on the left, making him an ideal fit for Chelsea’s evolving defense. With Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga potentially leaving, and Badiashile and Fofana still battling injuries, manager Enzo Maresca prioritized adding a young, durable option.
