A huge blow for Manchester City. Forced off injured in the 1–1 draw against Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League, Josko Gvardiol underwent tests that revealed a fracture of his right tibia.
The 23-year-old Croatian defender will need surgery and will be sidelined for several months, an absence that could even rule him out for the rest of the season.
City Move for Marc Guehi
Faced with this setback, the Citizens immediately turned to the transfer market. According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Manchester City have opened talks with Crystal Palace over the transfer of Marc Guehi.
The 25-year-old England center-back, who has made 19 Premier League appearances and scored two goals this season, is now a top priority to strengthen the heart of the defense.
City’s goal is clear: sign Guehi this winter to stay ahead of the competition. Liverpool and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the player, but they hope to sign him for free when his contract expires in June, so Pep Guardiola’s club could move quickly to fill Gvardiol’s absence and secure a major defensive reinforcement.
