Long tipped to be on the radar of the Parisian club, AS Monaco attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche should ultimately not be heading to the capital. Meanwhile, Tottenham are working behind the scenes to strengthen an attacking sector that is struggling badly.
Sitting 13th in the Premier League and short of ideas in front of goal, Thomas Frank’s Spurs have scored only two goals in their last four matches. This drought has pushed the London club to explore several leads to add creativity. According to Team Talk, Tottenham scouts were present on Saturday during Monaco’s 3–1 defeat to Lyon to watch Akliouche. Despite a low-key performance, the player still boasts solid statistics this season.
Tottenham Leading the Chase
Valued at more than £50 million, or around €60 million, the French international remains a priority target for Tottenham, even if other options are also being considered, notably at Leipzig with Yan Diomandé, who is however deemed too expensive.
In Paris, on the other hand, the case is closed. PSG, which had nevertheless reached full internal agreement between Luis Enrique and Luis Campos on the player’s profile, have revised their priorities. The attacking success of last season has convinced the staff not to shake up their offensive line. As a result, Akliouche is no longer in Paris’s plans for this winter transfer window.
