Change is only just beginning at Stade Malherbe de Caen. After several difficult weeks on the sporting front, the Norman club has made a decisive move: Maxime d’Ornano has been dismissed following a poor run of form, with just one win in the last seven matches. And according to Romain Molina, this is only the start.
Molina broke the news: the Mbappé camp is getting active, with major changes on the way in Caen. “Changes are coming in the transfer window,” the journalist revealed, confirming that the Mbappé clan intends to make a strong impact this winter.
Major changes driven by the Mbappé project
The first move is already official: Gaël Clichy has been appointed head coach, a decision backed by Reda Hammache and approved by the club’s ownership, led by the Mbappé family. The former French international arrives with a clear mission — to revive a project that has lost momentum.
In its statement, the club praised “his experience at the highest level, his understanding of modern football, and his daily standards.” He will be assisted by Marvin Esor, while the rest of the staff remains in place. But the overhaul will not stop on the bench. Currently sitting 10th in the National league, Caen aim much higher. Kylian Mbappé and his entourage know that strengthening the squad will be essential this winter. A busy transfer window is expected, with several moves planned to give Clichy a squad worthy of his ambitions.
