Fenerbahçe are furious: the transfer of N’Golo Kanté was canceled at the very last moment. It’s a major setback for the French midfielder, who was looking to join a higher-level club ahead of the World Cup.
A massive administrative error derailed the move to Fenerbahçe, even though a €5 million agreement had been reached with Al-Ittihad. Everything seemed settled between the clubs before the deal suddenly collapsed.
Administrative Error Blocks Kanté’s Move
According to the Turkish club, all steps had been completed — the structure approved and the exchanges finalized — but a data entry mistake in FIFA’s TMS system on the Saudi side prevented the transfer from being registered in time. Despite a request for an extension and discussions with FIFA, the transaction could not be completed.
As a result, the operation has been canceled and the case closed. Kanté will remain in Saudi Arabia unless a totally unlikely reversal occurs. A transfer ready to be signed… stopped by an administrative bug. The transfer window can be ruthless.
