Lionel Messi can forget about it: Pep Guardiola will not be joining Inter Miami or Major League Soccer, just days after leaving Manchester City.
Guardiola is not expected to reunite with Messi anytime soon. Following his departure from Manchester City, the Spanish manager was reportedly targeted by Inter Miami as a potential replacement for Javier Mascherano, according to the Daily Mirror.
Guardiola Chooses a Break
David Beckham, co-owner of the Florida-based franchise, is said to dream of bringing Guardiola and Messi back together, reviving a partnership that helped shape the history of Barcelona. Such an appointment would also provide a massive boost to the profile of MLS.
However, the project does not appear to appeal to the former City boss. According to the British outlet, Guardiola has no intention of returning to management in the immediate future.
After several intense years on the Manchester City bench, the Spanish coach wants to take a break, spend time with his family, and step back from football before considering a new challenge. Inter Miami will therefore have to look elsewhere for its next manager.
