Kevin De Bruyne has agreed to join Napoli. The Belgian playmaker is set to sign a two-year deal with the Serie A champions, with an option for a third season. The medical and final paperwork are expected soon.
After leaving Manchester City as a free agent following the end of his contract, De Bruyne is preparing for a new chapter in Italy. According to Fabrizio Romano, the agreement is all but complete—only minor details remain.
Major signing, “modest” salary
Napoli are pulling off a sensational coup by landing one of Europe’s most respected midfielders. But it comes at a reduced cost. De Bruyne will reportedly earn:
€6 million per year for the first two seasons
€5 million if the third year is triggered
Total: €17 million, excluding any signing bonus
A significant drop from the €25 million per year he was earning at Manchester City. Still, for Napoli, it’s a huge win—and it might not be the last major move of the summer.
