Jean-Philippe Mateta is getting very close to a new challenge in Serie A. The Crystal Palace striker is on the verge of joining AC Milan during this winter transfer window.
Mateta has continued to impress since his successful Olympic campaign with the French national team. According to The Athletic, an agreement has been reached between the London club and the Italian side for a deal worth more than €30 million. Talks are now at an advanced stage and the transfer is said to be close to completion.
A transfer nearing completion
A strong signal has reinforced this trend: the 28-year-old French center-forward, who has scored 10 goals in all competitions this season, stepped back from the last league match, a decision that often points to an imminent departure.
Milan are therefore in a very strong position to secure their attacking reinforcement. Barring a late twist, Mateta should discover Serie A in the coming days. Juventus Turin were also interested, but Milan are set to win the race.
